New project funding: ProxiUS launches outreach program to North America

As part of the “BMFTR Initiates – Research with North America” program, the ProxiUS project was approved to start on November 1, 2025. The project is part of the Cluster4Future PROXIDRUGS and based at Goethe University Frankfurt. Over the next two years, it will enable the cluster to establish scientific exchange and outreach programs with North America and to strengthen transatlantic collaboration in a sustainable way.

The goal is to build collaborations with researchers at the University of California (UC) Berkeley and its Molecular Therapeutics Initiative (MTI), who are among the leading international experts in the field of proximity induction. Through this partnership, both scientific and economic synergies are expected to emerge, driving the cluster’s development forward.

On the scientific level, joint follow-up projects, publications, and workshops are planned. Economically, the partnership will provide new impulses for technology transfer and foster novel forms of collaboration in public-private partnerships. In addition, the funding will allow PROXIDRUGS researchers to gain greater visibility at leading conferences in the USA and Canada, further enhancing the cluster’s international profile.

The BMFTR INITIATES program thus provides an excellent platform to deepen collaboration in drug discovery research between Germany and North America and to advance innovative approaches in the rapidly evolving field of proximity induction.
